The Red Butte Gardens (pronounced beaut) are part of the University of Utah. Jenny had heard they were good so off we went to investigate and yes - they are very good indeed in spite of no cafe for a cup of tea.
I really liked the children's garden - free of children as they are in school - where they are encouraged to play, hiding under trees, admiring a topiary moose and climbing through a plant dragon.
but we dragged him away to look at The Four Seasons Garden with its stunning American Cranberry, a viburnum.
